Society of St. Vincent de Paul St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta
Our primary function is to help alleviate the needs of the poor – the hungry – the homeless – single parents struggling to raise their children in a home environment.
Baby Resource Exchange Program is an ongoing appeal to the good people in our parish to provide diapers, wipes and Baby Clothes.
In conjunction with Loaves & Fishes we provide bags of food to the needy.
SVDP Society assists in the Christmas “Giving Tree” for toys and clothes which are distributed through Sr. Alba and Catholic Charities.
We provide financial assistance (when we are able) to individuals to include security and heating assistance through the St Mother Teresa of Calcutta Rectory.
As in the past, SVDP Society will coordinate the “Adopt a Baby” program each year starting in May. Parishioners are asked to “Adopt a spiritual baby”. In May we hold a “baby shower”. Some suggested gifts are baby bottles, layette items and clothes (up to size 2T). Items are then distributed through our baby resource center.
Our mission in Newburgh is growing in leaps and bounds. We will always have the poor; now more than ever, SVDP encourages new members to join and become “helping hands”. Our activities in Newburgh have increased considerably, especially personal contacts with the needy. We earnestly ask that if our mission appeals to you, and you want to join a viable and humble ministry to help those less fortunate than we are, do not hesitate to stand up and be counted among our members.
It only takes a simple phone call and a desire to share your time and energy for a worthy cause. Our meetings are held on the last Tuesday of the month in Gallo Hall.
